The wood is a wonderful venue for parties and gatherings

From birthday parties to a group booking for a special occasion. We can help you design your perfect day from a huge list of activities.

All activities are outdoors, so dress appropriately! We continue in all weathers, so bring your waterproofs if it’s wet! – phone us if exceptionally bad weather is forecast. (high winds) we will try to rearrange your party booking. We provide parties for children aged 3+.

How to book a party?

Please email to see if date is available. Birthday parties can be booked in the holidays, half term after school and on weekends.

Booking is essential,  Download a booking form (bottom of this page) complete and Post to:

A cheque or cash can be dropped off at the wood in an envelope with all your booking form. You can also post cheque with the booking form, payable to  ”Lucy’s little forest school.” or you can await payment details to pay online through BACS.

For insurance reasons we do need the signed original copy of the form so electronic copies can unfortunately can not be accepted. You can pay through PayPal or post a cheque with your booking form made payable to Lucy’s Little Forest School. Your  will then call you the week before the party is due to take place to run through what will happen and give you a chance for you to talk about any queries you may have.

Party Teas

Wilderness cafe –  Once we have arranged the date and time. please contact Lucy’s Little Forest School to see what delights they can fill the children’s bellies with after or before the party has taken place. They are themed party teas or maybe something more simple! this can be offered in the cafe or in the tea garden. Contact:

Marquee hire –  The use of  the marquee is available for you to book and have a BBQ or picnic to shelter, the marquee has a canvas cover and picnic tables as well as being close  to play glade. To book email:


How many people can come?

For the Castaway, Woodland Bake Off and Survive in the Wild parties there is a maximum of 12 children if the age group is 6 -7. For 8 years + the max for these two parties then becomes 16. For all other parties the maximum is 16 children (any siblings coming count as part of the 16). Minimum of 4 adults to help and be responsible for them. If the children are under 5 we recommend parents stay with all children. Any other adults are welcome to stay and get involved or have a tea/coffee in the barn and wait or drop off and pick up when we are finished. The ranger will take full lead in all bookings, but it is the adult making the booking who has responsibility for the children. All rangers have first aid training (first aid kit  always bought on any activity).

On the day!

We will meet outside the barn where we will have a brief welcome/safety talk, ready to head off into the wood. Please make sure guests arrive 15 minutes before the party is due to start. Please make sure all your guest are ready to go and have used the toilets.

What to wear?

old clothes are essential….. You may get dirty! Long trousers are advisable for any season as we have brambles and stinging nettle at the wood. Sensible shoes. In wet weather, boots and waterproofs are a must.

No refunds can be give if you have made a booking and payment has taken place.  We can wherever possible try and rearrange party to another date. But we will have to take 50% of the payment for cancellation on a party as we book in leaders to lead your party and will need to compensate them for this. So you will need to pay an additional 50% for cancellation. If we cancel for any reason a full refund is given. If we cancel for bad weather we will try and re-arrange your party for another day.


Supervision and behaviour

Everyone has lots of fun, but an activity involving sticks, branches and fire can never be risk-free, and the children are expected to behave sensibly. Adults are expected to join in with the activity and help where needed. For safety reasons we must have some rules of behaviour, and the ranger will expect your adults to help uphold these rules. The ranger is authorised to stop the castaway if, in her/his judgement, the children are behaving dangerously.

How many people?

Maximum group size 12 – 16 children. It is essential that you include at least 2 adults to help with supervision. You may include up to two younger siblings, but each must be in the charge of an extra adult at all times, and they count in the 16 maximum group size. (Note: for a 6-year-old party, most of the guests must already be 6)

What if it’s wet?

We cancel in high winds or if it become dangerous for us all. If its raining we go ahead! So make sure everyone is prepared for the weather, waterproofs and sensible footwear are essential!

Wet weather is something we all have to live alongside in . In wet weather the leader will use tarpaulins to keep people drier.
